Change our name from Mac & Sons to J.W. McClenahan and moved to our current address 2301 Palm Ave, San Mateo

Sparks Office Opened

Completed the Arco Arena in Sacramento, It was the NBA Arena holding 10,333 people and home of the Sacramento Kings
1986
Sparks completed our first major project in Lake Tahoe, Harvey’s Casino at Stateline, Nevada. Including 742 hotel rooms
1995
First big casino project: Silver Legacy 1,720 rooms, 89,200 sq. ft.
Chuck Beaupre started (now current Director of Operations)
Completed the National Bowling Stadium
1997
Ross Kelly, our current president and CEO joins the team as Safety Director
2008
The company completed a succession plan becoming an employee-owned S corporation
2014
The company was an early adopter in utilizing PEX piping for multi-family housing for hot and cold domestic water systems
2016
Completed one of our largest prison projects: Mule Creek Infill Complex in Ione, CA; 550,000 sq. ft. of construction for 1,584 Level II inmates, spread across 24 buildings on an 80-acre site
2017
Completed largest new construction project in company history: Lucile Packard General Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. - 521,000 sq. ft.

Completed Chinese Hospital in San Francisco. Key project in respect to construction challenges.
Completed Transbay Block 8, our largest high-rise residential project to date: 56 stories, 847,700 sq. ft., 548 units
2021
Completed the award-winning 10th and O project in Sacramento, a 10-story, 472,600-sq.-ft. government project: LEED Platinum, Zero Net Carbon, Zero Net Energy
